ROV Gyro Calibration

Vessel ↔ ROV Heading · Corrected − Observed

How to use

  1. Log ≥500 fixes at 5–10 s once all gyros are powered, latitude entered and aligned (often >30 min). Columns: time, vessel gyro, vessel name, ROV gyro, ROV name.
  2. Drop or paste the heading log below. The vessel & ROV averages populate automatically.
  3. Enter the dimensional control: offsets A and B from the LARS baseline to the front & back of the ROV, and C, the length between them. Set the LARS offset from the vessel centreline (+ clockwise / − counter-clockwise).
  4. Choose whether you measured from Aft or from Bow (this flips the angle sign).
  5. Pick the ROV / LARS arrangement that matches how the ROV is actually sitting on deck — the four buttons cover any way it comes up.
  6. Read the C-O. Always hand-check it before it goes into the nav software.

2 · ROV / LARS arrangement

Pick the picture that matches the ROV on deck. The diagram on the report updates to match.
Calc angle: enter A · B · C

3 · Dimensional control

Units (A · B · C)
A, B and C must share the same unit. LARS offset: + clockwise of the bow, − counter-clockwise.

4 · Quality limits (optional)

Used only for the PASS / REVIEW flag — they do not change the C-O.

5 · Job header

No logo.
